A Rattler is not a species. It is a sentence passed on a body. When a demon of sufficient power seizes a human host, the result wears the host's frame but none of its restraint: pale skin, glowing red eyes, black talons, and a strength no living human should possess. The possession does not end with one victim. White worms drop from a Rattler's face and grow to the length of snakes; wound around a living body, they seed the next possession, and the host rises again as one of them. They do not speak. They press impressions into a mind — images, intent, the sensation of being watched from inside your own skull. Nothing in our standard armory has ever harmed one — not ball, not blade, not shell. Only a weapon baptized in the Well of Souls will cut a Rattler, and only then if the agent lives long enough to swing it. Field units have recorded them marching beside the enemy across occupied Europe, indifferent to the human soldiers at their shoulder and equally indifferent to our dead.
