Willem Maddock was born in Queens, New York on November 5th, 1896 and cared for by his mother, Rachel Maddock. Father is unknown. On his 20th birthday, Maddock enlisted with the United States Army with hopes of joining the war and learning to fly. However, the US had not yet entered the war. Therefore, he received training and learned to fly in Texas and California, earning the rank of First Lieutenant. On July 1st, 1917, he successfully transferred to the Royal Air Force, No 40 Squadron, where he flew many successful air missions against the German Air Force. On March 20th, 1918, his plane was shot down by enemy flack guns. He managed to make a crash landing just behind German lines and was subsequently captured. He spent 9 months in a German prison and was eventually released at the end of the war on November 30th, 1918. By the end of the war, he had scored 22 aerial victories. During his deployment, he earned numerous medals from both the US and the United Kingdom: Victoria Cross, Distinguished Service Order, Military Cross and a Prisoner of War medal after his release. Years after the war ended, he was recruited into Census by Agent Wolfe.

— FIELD ASSESSMENT —
"Maddock is unconventional, stubborn, and has a maddening tendency to improvise when standard protocols would serve him better. He is also the most naturally gifted field operative I have recruited in forty years of service. Whatever he lacks in polish he more than compensates for in instinct. Recommend continued field deployment with oversight."
